Step into the limelight at your next event with with a top of the range, stainless steel, hooded spit roaster. The ideal partner for any BBQ lover to make each cook an experience to remember - for you and your guests. This all in one charcoal or wood spit can be used for rotisserie cooking of whole animals and roast meats, or as an oven or traditional BBQ. In fact, you can BBQ on the grills while the spit is in use.
Full stainless steel construction that is made to last and looks amazing. The Spartan stands the test of time in any weather conditions, guaranteeing you year after year of consistently superb roasting experiences.
The generous 1200mm length of the Spartan can handle everything from sizeable meat cuts to pigs (up to 19 kg) and small lambs (under 15 kg). For larger animals than this we recommend the 1500 mm Spartan hooded (or non hooded) model.
It really is your centerpiece and will be the only thing required when hosting a big event, large family get-together, or even just a casual backyard cookout with friends. The 1200mm and 1500mm Spartan are our most popular spit, and we both own and use these for promotion events and hires.
Every Spartan model gives you the choice of three different weight rated motors: 30 kg, 60 kg, and 120 kg. They have a 2 year warranty, have been extensively tested (see the video at the bottom of this page) and will handle any task you can think of.
The most important piece of equipment is the motor, and these are built to last. They turn at 5 rpm, a speed widely regarded as the perfect rotation for cooking on spits. We do provide the option for variable speed motors but for 95% of people the 1 speed motor is ideal and has less moving parts, making it easier to use and more durable.
Unlike other rotisseries on the market, all the Spartans have an adjustable skewer height. This provides flexibility throughout the cook. It makes the cook easier, as you can control both the charcoal used and the height of the cook.
You can lower the skewer in strong winds to negate heat loss, or even use minimal charcoal and put it all the way down with the hood closed (to speed up the cook or try crackle the pig or pork roast). The best part is, it uses simple friction locks, can be adjusted while still rotating and is easily raised by 1 person.
This unit will replace your traditional BBQ, providing increased versatility and cooking options. The spartan models are traditional rotisseries that comes with full 304 stainless steel grills, transforming it into a large BBQ.
The thermometer and viewing port make it a breeze to slow cook large roasts as an oven. In fact, we personally cooked 30 kg of meat (whole boneless pork legs and wagyu rumps) for 150 people at the old QLD museum. You can also throw wood chunks or soaked wood chips, such as apple wood or olive tree wood, straight onto the charcoal throughout the cook, to impart a rich smoky flavour.
The Spartan models come with 304 food grade stainless steel accessories. These accessories provide everything you need for a whole animal and roast meats while the grills transform it into a full length BBQ. The 304 food grade stainless is strong and long lasting - but best of all, food safe. The accessories included are:
The hood comes with a viewing port and thermometer. Additionally, you can set the hood to 5 height positions, from closed to fully open and three heights in between. This allows heat control when using it as an oven or BBQ or increased wind protection on unruly weather days.
